5 steps to Do It Yourself Google Drive (G-Drive)

February 27, 2008

You have wasted enough time to see Google coming out with G-Drive; without any luck. Why wait when you can tweak another awesome Google tool to have seemingly unlimited storage?

Following is a working, no nonsense configuration that builds a neat G-Drive within gmail.

1.
Go to gmail. If you don’t have an account, Google is kind enough to dole out a new account for you. This account offers you a staggering 6+ GB of fast storage. By fast I mean fast everywhere in the world. With XDrive or Microsoft Live Drive or some such US centric hosts, you will find a great speed in US but just about average speed outside of US.

After logging in your account use gmail menu to go the Labels

2.
Go to Edit labels and add a new G-Drive label.

3.
Go to Settings > Filters. Create a new filter with:

From: *@*.com

Click on the check box “Has attachments”

4.
Click Next Step.

5.
Click on apply a label with G-Drive as the combo box selection. You may click the check box named “Also apply filter to XX conversations below”. Click Apply Filter.

Voila!!!

You have an online 6+ GB drive from the Google stable. Further more, you can write an entire mail to describe the attached file contents, so easy for you to remember!

The First Post

As I look at the mad world of productivity software chasing equally productivity hungry people, I am amazed. So many to-do tools, so many GTD tools and documents, so many people writing so many things.

Am I another boring guy who is following a much faster enemy, time and another, efficiency? Yes and No. Yes. I would certainly help you guys with quality tools and information that keeps you ahead of your competition. No. I will not be boring you — to the least.
